The moment you tell yourself "I'm not afraid, I'm not afraid, I'm not afraid.." and then someone drops something behind you and you jump up in fear. That is the perfect example of attempting to talk yourself into changing your mindset but in reality, they are mere words floating on the surface that hasn't really sunk in. They are theoretical formulas or mantras to make yourself feel better temporarily, without taking roots within.
An important lesson I had to learn is that to get to that place of permanent change, you have to dig deeper. It will require you to go to places within yourself that you possibly didn't even know existed. It will be uncomfortable, maybe even painful but the outcome is amazing. Let's look at a concrete example from sports. People who regularly work out will tell you that it was a process to get to their current training level. It took motivation, perseverance and digging deeper. Overcoming that little voice that told them to give up and at the same time to keep pushing. If you ask them about the process of getting there, they would surely say the following: Was it easy? Definitely not. Was it painful? For sure. Was it worth it? Absolutely.
But what is the starting point of finally "Walking the walk and not just talking the talk"? It starts with your mindset and the way you think. You have to change your thoughts towards the positive things that will transform your mind in the right way. That moment when you are really transformed and not just prep talking yourself. Not when you are faced with a bit of opposition you are back to your old self. That moment you ooze and live positivity all the way. When you don't have to restrain yourself from saying something negative but literally don't have any negative words in you. When you are truly transformed and have reached that deepest and innermost part of you.
If you are thinking "Oh man, I am so far away from that.", don't feel discouraged because it is a process and journey. And who said that the journey could not also be a fulfilling experience in itself? Also, the good news is you don't have to do it on your own. Guidance and help are available for you. "Good and upright is the Lord; Therefore He instructs sinners in the way. He leads the humble in justice, And He teaches the humble His way. All the paths of the Lord are lovingkindness and goodness and truth and faithfulness To those who keep His covenant and His testimonies." PSALM 25:8-10 AMP
