6 Things You Can Do This Year to Be Happier

Be happier! Here are six things you can do to achieve that.

1. Stop holding grudges

If there is a person, situation, or conversation you're thinking about that doesn't make you feel good, let it go! Forgiveness is not only reflected in the grand gestures of forgiving but also in the little negative thoughts you might be harboring. Let go and leave it for God - your overall wellbeing will thank you for it.

2. Extend grace

We often expect others to behave or respond a certain way, but the truth is we cannot control other people's behavior. Instead of expecting something let's extend the same level of grace that God extends to us. It might be one of the most challenging but eventually one of the most rewarding things you will ever do.

3. Stop overthinking

There is no real benefit in brooding over situations or trying to think about what another person might be thinking. No matter how much you try, you will never figure it out and it will only tamper with your mental health. Stop overthinking things you don't have control over, and start doing what you can control.

4. Be happier!

Sounds easier than it is! For some people, it is difficult to derive joy or happiness from anything. As though they are carrying the burden of the whole world on their shoulders. But that shouldn't be your mindset. This year make a conscious effort to be genuinely happy and grateful for who you are and what you have!

5. Focus on self-love, self-care, and positivity

Being the best version of yourself starts with cultivating positive habits and changing your mindset. How you view and care for yourself has a big part. Self-love and self-care are key elements of your overall happiness and well-being. One way to help you improve in that area is by surrounding yourself with positive things. That could be people, content (e.g. books), and positive activities (e.g. working out). One important aspect of this is your spiritual well-being - you need to ensure that you are constantly nurturing and feeding your spirit with the right things.

6. Realize that the time is short

This is especially for my Christian brothers and sisters. We have a mission statement: to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and win souls for the kingdom of God! Don't allow distractions into your life that will hinder you from focusing on what really matters. Get rid of anything that does not glorify God then you will always be on the right track!
