Don't let your achievements haunt you

I believe that receiving recognition and being awarded for your work, something you have put time and effort in, is one of the greatest feelings there is. The awareness that someone has seen and appreciates your hard work, even though in some moments it may not have seemed like it. But this is not where it ends. Your awards don't mean "It is finished. I can relax now." On the contrary, recognition also comes with more expectations. It sets the bar even higher and that can be a good thing. It could be that positive nudge to keep you motivated to achieve even more. That driving force to remind you that you can accomplish your goals. That is amazing, isn't it? Then I guess there is nothing more to add - that is the end of this blog post. Thank you for your time! Well, not so fast.

Unfortunately, there is another side to this. When we are successful, win and receive recognition for the things we have accomplished, we are not only surrounded by people who celebrate with us. In fact, there will be many who will envy your success or even try to actively sabotage you. They may even purposely challenge you, question your skills, abilities, and knowledge. Thus, don't be surprised if after you have attained success, you won't only meet people who will respect and applaud you.

Facing this kind of opposition can lead to self-doubt. It might even have you question if your accomplishments are real or well-deserved. But don't allow those negative thoughts stop you or keep you from moving forward. Especially, if you are doing something positive or for a good cause, you might wonder why not everyone would be happy for you. Particularly, in those moments you should stand tall, dust off your shoulders and keep moving because there is a higher purpose that the enemy wants to hinder you from achieving. So, how should you deal with those who oppose you? Lash out at them in anger and react in the same negative manner they are behaving towards you? Absolutely not. "Don’t repay evil for evil. Don’t retaliate with insults when people insult you. Instead, pay them back with a blessing. That is what God has called you to do, and he will grant you his blessing." 1 Peter 3:9 NLT

That is why your foundation is so important when you are in the process of building your life. It takes a lot of inner strength to respond with love when shown evil. Make sure that you stand on solid ground and have put on the right armor when you step out to impact the world. Not everyone coming your way will be for you. Thus, never allow the words of negative people get to you or make you question who you are and what you are capable of. Your confidence does not come from people's opinions but from what God has said about you. So, celebrate your victories and accomplishments, keep pressing forward in faith and allow God to do the rest.
