Get in the zone!

A colleague of mine is responsible for writing all the creative and promotional content at my company. So, one day I asked her about her creative process. How was she able to focus and create new and exciting content all the time? Her answer was: "Sometimes I lock myself away in a quiet room for some hours and write. Other times I just stay home, so I can write and be creative without any distractions - all by myself!" Didn't sound like a magic formula or an amazing new method. Something so simple, yet I could totally relate to that. That's what I consider getting "into the zone" to be creative, to be productive and get things moving!

My definition of "the zone" is a state of mind that means being laser focused and productive. A substitute for this expression could be "the place of excellence." A state of mind that can inspire you to produce your best work yet. Where good turns into excellence and where the ordinary is separated from the exceptional. Now, "getting into the zone" doesn't mean being by yourself. You could be completely alone and not be productive at all. Not have any inspiring or excellent thoughts. "The zone" doesn't require the absence of people. You could be surrounded by hundreds of people, and you would still have the ability to "get into the zone." Think of "the zone" as the place where greatness happens. It's the mindset that matters, rather than the setting.

It's necessary to "get into the zone" every once in a while. To effect change, to be productive or to make major decisions it takes more than just sitting down to think - it takes a higher level. "But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you." Matthew 6:6 NIV What God is saying here is if you really want to get things done, then you have to leave the distractions behind and "get in the zone."

If you are feeling you're at a standstill, not sure what to do next or want something to change but don't know how to go about it, then it's about time you "get in the zone"! Forget about the things that make you doubt yourself or your abilities, or that make you question if you can achieve what you have set your mind on doing. "Get in the zone", and you'll see that it will yield excellent results.
