How the story ends
Another year has come and gone. I don't know what you conquered, achieved or succeeded in last year, but I'm sure you also had some quiet moments when you didn't feel victorious at all. Moments you questioned yourself and wondered how things would end. The good news is, you're still here and not at the point of no return yet. Your story continues and can still be written the way you wanted to it to end.
When you were born your parents started writing your story. They raised you in a certain way, taught you right from wrong and instilled certain morals and values in you. They envisioned the kind of person they wanted you to be in the future, so they added layers to your story to ensure that your story would lead up to what they had in mind. At some point in your life, that pen was handed over to you, and you continued writing your own story. You chose which direction you wanted to take with your education, in your career, and in your relationships - sometimes with and other times without the help and influence of others. Once in a while, you also had to change the narrative of your story. You had to add and remove characters, and some characters were more significant to your story than others. Some remained in your story for a brief moment, others for a season and some are still in it now. In some parts you had to switch up the theme and mood entirely - some chapters were filled with sad, others with happy moments. At times, you were celebrating your wins, other times counting your losses. There were episodes of certainty and moments of being unsure about everything. Then those times of being still. Those moments of silence when you had to put your pen down for a while. When you didn't have the strength to or didn't know how to continue. Times when you couldn't see how the story would continue and eventually end.
And that's perfectly ok because as you are writing, there is an author who is much further ahead in your story. Who has already outlined the entire plot and knows how the story will end. "looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God." Hebrews 12:2 NKJV
We might have envisioned our desired ending, but it is our faith that will eventually take us there - similar to embarking on a journey. When you enter a car, get on a train or board a plane, you might know where you want to go, but there are a million and one incidents that could occur on the way. Many things could cause you not to reach your initially intended destination. What it boils down to is when you commence the journey, you believe that you will get to where you want to, and that belief gets you there. So, no matter where you are in your story at the moment, if you feel like you're at the beginning, right in the middle or at a crossroads, always remember that what truly matters is how your story ends. The beginning might look discouraging or downright terrible but don't lose faith. Keep fighting for what you want. You are still here and have the opportunity to change your story to that happy ending you desire.
