I miss those days... not really!

There are times we fall into this "false nostalgia". The yearning for days past. A longing for how things used to be. The strong belief that "then" things were better. But were they? It's funny how we sometimes tend to only remember the great things and ignore those things that we did not consider so great or even complained about in the past. I love history because it's educative and often provides the context for things happening in the present. But does that mean I wish those days would be here now? Not at all. Instead, I learn, take notes, meditate and plan for the things ahead.

Shouldn't we be looking forward and into the future at all times? Yes! Our lives should be moving forward and not backward. It can sometimes be beneficial to look in the past to draw some important lessons for the future but that shouldn't be the standard or the norm. Even worse, some people end up getting stuck in the past unable to move forward. But that shouldn't be you.

To move forward you first have to move and that is towards the future. If you keep going back to the past you'll end up in an endless loop without truly making any progress. And life should always be exactly that - progressing! Just think about it, the world keeps moving forward and is constantly changing even if you decide not to. So, how long would you be able to exist in a world that is moving while your life is at a standstill?

Every aspect of your life should be progressive, especially your spiritual life because it touches every part of your life. "Therefore let us move beyond the elementary teachings about Christ and be taken forward to maturity,..." Hebrews 6:1 NIV
