Using Both Hands
I'm sure most of you can comfortably balance a plate in one and a cup in the other hand. But there are some things that simply require the use of both of hands. For example, if you were to uproot a tree, no matter how small in size, you definitely would utilize both of your hands to get the job done. Why? Because you'll have more strength to do what would be nearly impossible with only one hand.
This illustration could also be applied to your future and your destiny. Did you know that everyone has a past but not everyone has a future? Of course, you could say that if you had a guarantee that you will see another day, that equals having a future but there is a difference between only being and actively participating. You could live for another 50 years without accomplishing anything significant. You'd definitely have a past, but also something to look forward to? Probably not. But if you work towards building something meaningful, you would not only look back at a purposeful past but would have more to look forward to in the future. And that is because the life of someone who builds is continuous - you'll be pushing and pressing forward always. There will be another mission, project or goal to accomplish. Your "it is finished" would be when truly your time here on earth is up.
If you are wondering how you can take hold of that future? Use both of your hands! "For still the vision awaits its appointed time; it hastens to the end—it will not lie. If it seems slow, wait for it; it will surely come; it will not delay." Habakkuk 2:3 ESV Your destiny and calling is definitely nothing to be balanced on one hand. Even if what you want to accomplish seems miles away, keep working towards it in faith. The only hindrance to fulfilling your destiny is you, so stop standing in your way.
