Breathing seems like one of the most trivial and basic things in life. Not something you need to learn or be conscious of but simply do. But like so many things, breathing is also something we need to learn or re-learn because we don't realize how often we "hold our breaths" in moments we should be breathing.

A colleague of mine is responsible for writing all the creative and promotional content at my company. So, one day I asked her about her creative process. How was she able to focus and create new and exciting content all the time? Her answer was: "Sometimes I lock myself away in a quiet room for some hours and write. Other times I just stay home, so I can write and be creative without any distractions - all by myself!" Didn't sound like a magic formula or an amazing new method.

Imagine you were being honored with a special award for your accomplishments. During the award ceremony, different people would be called on stage to say a few words about you. As you are sitting there in anticipation to hear what they have to say, would you be excited or worried? What would these people have to say about you? What a great person you are and how you inspired their lives? Or that they thought long and hard but just couldn't find any positive words to say about you?

...or created to bless! I believe both work hand in hand. People often overlook that we were called to create, to be productive and give our contribution to this world - beyond a 9 to 5 job. Some consider their profession their calling, and this may be true. I always refer to impacting people's lives because the "me"-zone is a very lonely and empty place. In fact, if everything only revolves around you, it will soon feel as if that space is not even big enough to contain you.

"I've failed!" Only a few people would admit that. Maybe out of fear or insecurity. Some might consider it a sign of weakness. In reality, it's not about admitting that you've failed but what comes afterward. So, if you're one of the few who is honest with themselves and uses their failure as an opportunity to do and be better - congratulations! If you find yourself thinking about the times you knew you messed up but didn't want to admit it - there's some good news for you:

At some point in life we all encounter that one person that pushes our buttons. A particular person that seems to be constantly teasing or even mocking us. That person that makes us feel scrutinized or even judged at all times. That unwanted adversary that appears to be in constant competition with us. Someone you want to - just have to prove yourself to.

I recently read an interview with the music artist Kelis that was published on HuffPost Black Voices. In the interview, she talked about her previous relationship with the rapper Nas. Spoiler alert! This article might touch on some things that may be difficult to understand for people who don't listen to hip-hop music and are not familiar with the culture surrounding it, that is why I encourage you, even more, to continue reading.

Ever felt like everybody else was going out having fun and doing great things except you? As if you were stuck in one place while everything around you keeps moving. Everyone around you is smiling while you're sad. That does not sound familiar to you? Then congratulations, either you have mastered the art of keeping yourself so busy to not even entertain this kind of thoughts or you've finally understood that you're movement or standstill is not defined by what people may seem or not...

As ironic as it may seem, I sometimes also need encouraging words and yearn to read something that will lift my spirits - Something uplifting. It could be a song, the words in a book or article, spoken words or just a thought. Moments like these can seem daunting and may take some people to dark places but there is actually an opportunity there. Those moments you may feel down are as real as it gets...

Mothers are the epitome of love and sacrifice and even more so the vessels of wisdom. They are the backbone of their homes and true symbols of strength. They are precious, priceless and would require uncountable poems and songs dedicated to them, to even come close to capturing how special they are. And my mother is not any different.
